A Beginner Herbalist’s Apothecary Kit
Calling all aspiring herbalists! This is for you.
This kit is a beginner-friendly collection of 8 medicinal herbs curated by an herbalist and mother of four, intended to help you start tinkering and building confidence as an herbalist. These are the basics, handpicked from my own kitchen apothecary to help you get started taking good care of yourself and your people, the old-fashioned way.
Each herb comes in a glass jar with an airtight bamboo lid - these are beautiful to display on your apothecary shelf! Each herb is either organically cultivated or wild-harvested by us right here in the Appalachian mountains and suitable for medicine-making. (Calendula, Chamomile, Elderberry, Lemon Balm, Mullein Leaf, Peppermint, Slippery Elm Bark and Yarrow.)
I’ve written a beautifully designed, full-color booklet featuring 8 “mini” monographs on each of the 8 plants with their basic actions, indications for use, as well as contraindications or cautions and my own personal experiences with them. It also includes a handful of basic recipes so that you can begin using these herbs right away.
A Beginner Herbalist’s Apothecary Kit makes a thoughtful and empowering gift for anyone, young or old, feeling the pull to the plants and to healing.
My hope is that this kit will be a starting point for you in building a rhythm of herbal care for yourself and your loved ones.
