Our Favorite herbal “Antibiotic”

As an herbalist and a mother of four, I can’t imagine going without my Echinacea Root Extract—whether I’m traveling, hiking, or camping, it’s always with me. And it’s always in my medicine cabinet at home. I never let it run out, because it’s one of the most powerful, natural defensives against infection.

Here’s why: Echinacea isn't technically an antibiotic in the sense that it kills bacteria, but it’s what we call an anti-infective. It’s amazing at strengthening your defenses when you’re facing bacterial infections, and it does its job incredibly well.

Echinacea works by increasing the production of immune cells—think of it like sending more soldiers to battle. Whether it's a UTI, sore or strep throat, mastitis, or even a wound that’s showing signs of infection, Echinacea helps your immune system fight back effectively.

It’s also a fantastic addition to your cold and flu regimen, as bacterial infections often arise in the wake of a viral cold or the flu. Though Echinacea doesn't directly combat viruses, it can help your body manage secondary bacterial infections that tend to manifest in those “mucousy” conditions. For comprehensive support, consider our Cold + Flu Bundle, which includes Echinacea Root Extract along with other powerful herbs to boost your immune defense during cold and flu season.

How to use it:

  • The recommended dosage is one drop per every two pounds of body weight.

  • Simply divide your body weight in half, and that’s how many drops you take every 3-4 hours at the first sign of infection.

  • If the infection is already established, and you’ve determined you don’t need antibiotics (because sometimes that’s necessary,) you can increase your frequency to every 1-2 hours. Many of our customers report feeling relief within just the first day!
